Specify custom vocabularies for your domain

Custom vocabularies let you define how Scribewave should handle names, acronyms, product terms, and domain-specific wording before or during transcription.

What are custom vocabularies?

Instead of correcting the same terms after every upload, you can maintain a reusable list of preferred spellings and expressions. This is especially useful when a project includes internal terminology, person names, locations, or mixed-language phrases that are easy for general-purpose models to normalize incorrectly.

The goal is not to replace editing altogether, but to reduce repeat corrections and keep transcripts consistent across multiple files, editors, and exports.

How it helps in practice

Detail

Terminology control

You can define the exact spelling you want for recurring terms such as brand names, medical vocabulary, research concepts, or legal references.

Detail

Consistency across projects

The same vocabulary can be reused across related recordings so that naming remains stable even when multiple people upload or review files.

Detail

Less repetitive cleanup

Because recurring corrections are handled earlier in the process, the editor can focus on actual ambiguities instead of fixing the same predictable mistakes.

Practical notes

  • Most useful when a transcript contains many proper nouns, abbreviations, or specialized terms.
  • Works best as a controlled reference list rather than a long dump of every possible keyword.
  • Still pairs well with manual review for pronunciation edge cases or unclear source audio.
